The Free Arts NYC organization recently held an art auction with support by Marc Jacobs that celebrated the work of Scott Campbell and his contributions to the organization and its efforts. The auction raised $1 million dollars, and there were over 100 works of art donated by artists including Mr. Brainwash, FAILE, Eric Haze, Inez & Vinoodh, and Curtis Kulig.
In addition to helping with the auction, Campbell also sent out a call for volunteers via Instagram for a very special project:
Each of the volunteers met with a child from the Free Arts Teens Program, all of whom are underprivileged. The children then got to write their names on paper, and Campbell tattooed them onto the group of volunteers. "Every time the volunteers look at the tattoo they consider the kid, and believe in them," says the artist. "It’s a nice reminder to be generous and not take yourself so seriously."
