Levi’s CEO Chip Bergh says that not washing your jeans is perfectly fine. Well, duh, denim geeks already know that. But for those of you not convinced, maybe the head of the most iconic denim brand in the world will change your mind.

During Fortune’s Brainstorm Green conference Bergh said that he hasn’t washed his jeans in a year, adding that he has "yet to get a skin disease.” Not washing your denim isn’t all about getting the perfect whiskers and honeycombs, though—you're also doing your part in being socially sustainable, which is Levi’s whole goal on going green with its Water<Less collection.

Besides doing your small part to making the world a better place by not washing your denim, there are a couple more tips on taking care of your jeans just in case you need a quick reminder. Everything from point of purchase, to steaming, and repairing your denim should be second nature once you learn the basics.
