Ph.D. student Daniel Stoupin has been making waves with his latest project, a timelapse video called Slow Life that showcases the underwater world of coral reefs, sea sponges, and other oceanic wonders. To create the video, Stoupin took over 150,000 shots of these brightly colored creatures. But according to Stoupin, being snap-happy with his underwater camera was necessary: “the marine fauna are very mobile creatures, but their motion is only detectable at different times scales,” he explained. The sequences that appear in the video occurred over the course of many hours.
