Tokyo design studio YOY has found a way to cleverly combine aesthetics with functionality in their recent project Canvas, a series of screenprints that can also be used as chairs. Lead artists Naoki Ono and Yuki Yamamoto spearheaded the design concept for a frame made from wood and aluminum that is sturdy enough to bear the weight of one or two human beings, over which a screenprinted elastic fabric is stretched. By leaning the frame against the wall, lucky owners have the option of either admiring the pieces for their beauty or relaxing in their stretchy comfort.
