Massachusetts-based artist Aliza Razell’s experiments in Photoshop are absolutely stunning. Combining self portraits with bursts of vibrant watercolors, she has produced two captivating series: “Anesidora,” based on the story of Pandora’s fateful curiosity, and one untitled work in progress inspired by ikävä, a Finnish word that means yearning or longing for something missing. These sensational mash-ups have a dreamy quality and portray fantastical themes. The effervescent color displays, which look like amped up Rorschach tests, incorporate a psychological element to her work.
