The invention of LED lights has had a great impact on society, and nowhere is it felt more than in Hong Kong. For decades, the neon sign industry in Hong Kong was booming. Now, there are fewer and fewer requests for these illuminated crafts. The heyday of neon sign-making led to the creation of neon light artisans, people who turned the creation of these objects into a science and an art. For example, the workers developed special techniques to prevent burn injuries from occurring while molding glass in 800-degree heat. This short documentary was includes interviews from the calligraphers behind the intricate designs and the workers who shaped and crafted the neon fixtures.
