Back in November, MoMA PS1 released the list of finalists for the Young Architects Program 2014. After reviewing the proposals from each of the five firms, the committee has chosen the New York-based company The Living to transform the museum's courtyard this summer with their "Hy-Fi" biodegradable tower.
Using corn stalks and mushroom roots, The Living will work with the Ecovative biolab to create the blocks used to build the structure. The have not yet revealed the dimensions of the installation, but each of the mockups from the proposal place the height around two stories tall. Check out the project video below to learn more about the structure, and click through to the MoMA PS1 website to read more about the Warm-Up parties at which the tri-column structure will be the centerpiece.
