The level of detail on these are unbelievable.

Illustrator DZO Olivier describes himself as a "artiphist, symbols explorer." For a recent collection of drawings, the artist chose a set of unconventional canvases. He explains via his Behance profile: "I always varied pens but rarely drawing surfaces. Out of paper for a short time, I turned to the two inert materials: stone and bone. These inert materials seemed so ordinary! This is not the case. They are still "living" materials: rough, bold, smooth, cracked, absorbent. Taming the variety of surfaces on a volume is a real adventure!"

The results of DZO's experimentation are these intricate drawings with a tattoo feel. Unlike paper, there seems to be zero room for error when drawing on these surfaces. The illustrations give cool new expressions to what were once boring (in comparison) animal faces. To check out more from DZO, head to his Behance page and follow him on Instagram.
