Aaron De La Cruz for 55DSL + Birkenstock, Curated by Arkitip from The Arkitip Chronicles on Vimeo.

Artist Aaron De La Cruz boarded a plane from San Francisco to a small town in Northern Italy at the behest of Birkenstock, 55DSL and Arkitip for this collaborative capsule.

De La Cruz, who's worked for curating group Arkitip in the past, traveled to 55DSL headquarters in Breganze to paint the mural that would become the central source of influence for the collection. He lined up Birkenstock Monterey Sandals beneath the 50-foot wall where he spent days drawing thick, systematic, curling lines. The paint from his roller splattered onto the Birkenstocks below, ensuring each pair was uniquely decorated. T-shirts and long sleeves from the collection are printed with the same pattern found on the wall at 55DSL's offices.

Watch De La Cruz do his thing above, and cop the Monterey Sandals here.
