Inez and Vinoodh are two of the greatest living photographers. As a couple, and as an inimitable creative partnership, they've been commissioned by nearly every major fashion label and are newly represented by Gagosian Gallery. Their film work, some which you may recognize for brands like Dior and Diesel and artists like Lady Gaga (who they most recently worked with for her ARTPOP album campaign), has proven to be just as iconic as their still images.
In the words of Michael Bracewell, "It is typical of the photographic art of van Lamsweerde and Matadin that they urge their image making to de-stabilise the pristine surfaces expected of consumer culture; to this end they make use, in turn, of the Gothic, inscrutability, androgyny, comedy, eroticism, surrealism, fantasy, montage, cinema, replication, image manipulation, Pop art, fetishism and art historical nuance."
