Brooklyn-based artist Daniel Arsham will be launching the first chapter of his “Future Relic”series in Miami Beach, FL on Thursday, December 5 with OHWOW Gallery. The launch includes the release of his film, Future Relic 01, as well as a limited-edition piece, Mobile Phone.

The movie tells the story of Mobile Phone, a Nokia-esque brick phone of the cell phone’s early, less chic generations. Arsham’s story begins presumably many years in the future, where an anthological discovery unearths mobile phones and classifies them as ancient relics. The phone is determined to have been rendered technologically obsolete. Influenced by Lawrence of Arabia and The Seventh Seal, the narrative guides the viewer on a journey in search of Mobile Phone.

Overall, the film is a theatrical narrative detailing the discovery of this object with a musical score by Swizz Beatz and costumes by Richard Chai.

Mobile Phone will be available for purchase at noon on December 6 at www.oh-wow.com.
