The Japanese have a daredevil pilot squad similar to the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels, known as the 11 Squadron of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. And, much like the Angels, the “Blue Impulse” of Japan puts on annual aerial demonstrations of their aviation prowess. This year, instead of just suiting up and taking flight, the Medicom toy company teamed up with the annual Tokyo Iruma Air Show to create a special version of its Bearbrick toy. This one, at 400 percent size, features the elements that a Blue Impulse pilot would wear on a flight suit, based on photos Japan Air Self-Defense Force Public Relations Office provided the manufacturer. Available at the air show today, it’s going for a nice ¥10,000, or about $102.
