For recognized footwear brand Yuketen, its Japan-meets-American sensibilities have caught the eye of Virginia's Need Supply Co., who has picked up two of Yuketen's newer models, the Ripple Sole and Greg styles for fall.
The Ripple Sole, as the name implies, comes with a Vibram ripple sole, covered with mocha brown suede and shaped in the style of a plain-toe blucher. These are handmade in Mexico, but are modeled after a shape designed for paratroopers in the '50s.
As a casual oxford, the Greg style is something that will be flexible enough to work from the beginning of the day into the evening. Handmade in Canada, with a hand nailed Cats Paw heel on a heavyweight leather outer, this shoe is as durable as it is versatile. With natural leather insoles and traditional brogue toe detailing, these are an investment piece worth picking up.
