IKEA's Displays Become Functional Billboard Installations With Live Bathing Models

Nothing sells a bathroom quite like watching someone shower in it.

The third biggest draw to IKEA (behind the prices and meatballs) has to be the storewide room displays. They give buyers a visual of what the products will look like once they get them home and install them in their own spaces. In France recently, the furniture company built similar displays on elevated billboard platforms at the Gare Saint-Lazare train station, adding real appliances and live models to the installations. The models performed their normal routines in the functional bathroom and laundry rooms, bathing and grooming outdoors while passersby stopped to watch. It's kind of like using real models in window displays at retail stores, only more personal. Each installation contained the phrase "Enfin une salle de bain qui prend de la hauteur!" which translates to "Finally a bathroom that takes height."
