Photographer Steve McCurry recently spoke with the TODAY Show to promote his new book "Untold: The Stories Behind the Photographs," a look back at some of the shots that made his career and the events surrounding them. Arguably the most iconic photo that McCurry ever took was the "Afghan Girl" photo that appeared on the cover of National Geographic in June of 1985. In the book and interview, McCurry reveals that the lucky photo was almost passed over for another where the little girl had her hands over her face.
