The Los Angeles Kings have deep, long standing ties to their hometown's local culture. From the classic caps worn by all residents of the city to the their iconic former practice facility (the Forum), the team is a vital part of LA's creative scene.

In celebration of the relationship between the Stanley Cup champions and the city of Los Angeles, legendary tattoo artist Mister Cartoon has re-imagined the Kings' classic iconography for a history-making collaboration.

Cartoon has created a fresh capsule collection, beginning with Starter hats and extending to t-shirts, which breath new life into the classic Kings cap. The merchandise is launched in conjunction with a program of Para Los Niños, a 33 year old non-profit organization providing high-quality education, family support services and community engagement programs to 7,500 children and families each year, as an effort to reach out to the community, which finds Mister Cartoon and key Kings staff and players joining students and under-served youth at their center in Downtown LA to paint of a commemorative art piece.

This project hits home to me in many special ways,” Cartoon says. “From growing up as a fan of the Kings and driving past the iconic Forum they used to play at in Inglewood, The Kings are Los Angeles. Now their home base has moved Downtown, which is home to my creative studio. This opportunity is an honor.”

In addition to the caps, Cartoon has also created specially painted goalies' masks adorned with his time-honored black and grey motifs. The look celebrates key symbols of Los Angeles and the Kings' battle to retain the Stanley Cup.

“The Kings are thrilled to be collaborating with Mister Cartoon—this is a pairing of two Los Angeles icons. The story of the Kings’ genesis parallels Cartoon’s in many ways,” said Luc Robitaille, the LA Kings President of Business operations. “Both have endured different sets of obstacles to persevere and reach the top of their game – the Kings winning the Stanley Cup in 2012, Cartoon celebrating their legacy with a merchandise line for the City of Champions.”

To support the collection, Estevan Oriol produced a video detailing the collaboration. Watch it below.
