For a new public art installation in the neighborhood of Østerbro, Copenhagen, Denmark, a shadow city was created by the Polish designer Izabela Boloz. The artist calls light and shadow the material for the silhouetted city, which is as playful and whimsical as the city that surrounds it. In fact, the shadow city was inspired by Copenhagen itself, with many of its sky-lit buildings reminiscent of the metropolis, both old and new. On a 100-meter stretch of wall on the edge of Sortedam Lake, Boloz created 52 different shapes; they slowly change throughout the day, as the sun moves across the sky.
