Most people know about soldiers storming the beach at Normandy because of that intense scene in Saving Private Ryan, but that was an unfortunate and deadly reality for a lot of people during WWII. Artists Andy Moss and Jamie Wardley of Sand in Your Eye organized a temporary art project to honor those who lost their lives on both sides during the war. The project, called The Fallen, involved a team of volunteers blanketing one of the D-Day landing beaches at Arromanches in France with 9000 silhouettes of fallen bodies. It was created on Peace Day (September 21) and these photos were taken before the tide washed the bodies away.
