In celebration of what would have been puppet master Jim Henson's birthday this week, his daughter Cheryl Henson donated more than 20 of her father's iconic puppets from Sesame Street and The Muppets to the National Museum of American History. Among the puppets donated are Miss Piggy, Cookie Monster, the Count, Grover, and Bert and Ernie. The pieces will have lots of company, as the Smithsonian Institute already owns quite a few Henson creations including fellow Muppets Oscar the Grouch and Kermit the Frog. Many of the puppets are first builds and they will all be displayed in future exhibitions.
