Last week, we showed you Shepard Fairey's contribution to the street art project in Vienna, Austria entitled "Cash, Cans, and Candy," now we have a look at the work Brookyln-based artists FAILEcontributed to the event.
Presented by gallerist Ernst Hilger, the exhibition brought together 40 international artists from every continent, including Fairey, FAILE, Roa, Stinkfish, Faith47 and Retna, collaborating to transform 800 square meters of exhibition space into an impressive display of contemporary street art. As street art continues to grow and become more of a "legitimate" art form worldwide, Vienna looks to one day be mentioned in the same breath as cities like New York, London, Los Angeles, and Berlin as a city with a formidable and important street art scene, and "Cash, Cans, and Candy" is a major step in the right direction.
FAILE (Patrick McNeil and Patrick Miller) painted this mural on the Anker bread factory silo, sharing a corner with a piece by Fairey. The winged ballerina mural connects to installations that the duo has done with the New York City Ballet entitled "Les Ballets De Failes" for their NYCB Arts Series.
