Bob Dylan created a painting for the cover of his new album containing some of his previously released songs. This all seems sweet on the surface--but in fact the album cover is pretty ballsy, considering  his troubled past with art.

You see, the Gagosian Gallery in NYC hosted an exhibition of his paintings of Asia back in 2011. However the event gathered scrutiny because a lot of the works resembled famous photos he didn't take. But many can't forget that he also painted himself for the cover of his 1970 album “Self Portrait." The album received a Rolling Stone review by Greil Marcus that began with this line.

In painting himself despite the Gagosian controversy and the memory of his ill-received album, Dylan's all like IDGAF. Columbia Records released information on Tuesday that the album, officially titled “The Bootleg Series, Vol. 10 – Another Self Portrait (1969-1971),” will be released Aug. 27. Go Bob Dylan for ignoring the haters.
