SFMOMA closed up shop recently and held a ground-breaking ceremony to signify the start of a two and a half year expansion. The expansion will allow for more programming at the museum upon its completion in 2016. In the meantime, SFMOMA will host off-site exhibitions at various locations including the Asian Art Museum, Contemporary Jewish Museum, and the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford.
The first off-site exhibition from the museum is already on display. Mark di Suvero has constructed a series of eight large metal sculptures at Crissy Field in San Francisco that will remain until May 2014. We're sure that it will be one of the many highlights from the museum during their brief hiatus.
