Shayne Olivier still has people talking about his Hood by Air show he put on at New York Fashion Week, and rightly so—have you seen it? The New York Times recently profiled the designer, and finds that editors, other industry folks, and celebrities can't get enough of Olivier's celebrated "ghetto gothic" sensibility.

"It’s about updating the way boys dress in the hood, the hood boys you would think would make fun of you, with the conceptual and loose way men like Dash and Terence were dressing in the art world,” Olivier told The NY Times of his design aesthetic.

“The clothes became about pushing their look forward through an editing process of a certain taste level, like a checks and balances,” he added.

But that's not all. Olivier also discussed his relationships with A$AP Rocky and Kanye West, how MySpace helped him start his career, and where the name "Hood by Air" came from. Read the full article here, and learn more about one of the greatest black fashion designers
