Prada Is Set to Host a Writing Contest

Will this contest bring about the next great style writer?

None

It seems like everyone with an inkling of sartorial expertise or interest wants to become a style writer. We don't blame them. It's a hell of a time, although some people would love to see the end of fashion-based journalism.

To increase the connection between the literary and style worlds, Prada is set to host a writing competition, WWD reports. The contest, which asks participants to author original short stories between 10 and 20 pages, is based around the concept of using prescription glasses as a metaphor. "What are the realities that our eyes give back to us? And how are these realities filtered through lenses?" The fashion house asks those interested in submitting work.

Will this contest yield the next Fitzgerald, Hemingway, or Toomer? We're not sure, but it should be interesting the read the top entries. Get cranking at some copy, the entries are due by June 18.
