Artist Bert Loeschner uses plastic garden chairs to create sculptures that make us reconsider the design appeal of the monobloc chair. His project, Monobloc, includes modified interpretations that present the seat in unexpected forms and settings. While a monobloc chair can be seen on/as a swing, another holds up an umbrella, while a large stack of them resembles a human spine. As Loeschner creates new situations using a single item, also composed of a lone piece of material, we are exposed to previously unseen qualities.
