In case you've been behind on the recent natural disaster to hit the East Coast and Caribbean, Hurricane Sandy, this time-lapse will catch you up to speed. Silas Maniatis (SMvideoChan on YouTube) started it at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 28th, before things got nasty on Monday night. He shot it from the top of 2 Northside Piers in Brooklyn, snapping away at 2 frames every minute, or 30 seconds between shots. At around 1 minute and 50 seconds, you can see the power going out in lower Manhattan, where it is still off today. In case you'd rather have comic relief from this rather serious event, check out the plethora of Hurricane Sandy memes.
