NYU professor Clay Shirky gave a talk at PSFK Conference NYC, where he discussed the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, in addition to 5 student projects that he thinks are pushing creative boundaries. In doing so, he shed a lot of great knowledge about creativity and the creative process, especially in terms of technological advancements.

Creativity is the ability to produce valuable novelty...A culture that knows for itself what constitutes valuable novelty can actually see technical fads come and go, can actually re-arrange itself as it needs to. And that the cultural piece that matters most for creativity, is knowing what your touchstone is, what your sense of valuable novelty is. And it is from there that you can develop the techniques that work.
