Using high fashion magazine cover girls and ad campaigns as simultaneous canvases and muses is not necessarily a new practice; KAWS earned a name for himself adding characters to the empty-behind-the-eyes Calvin Klein ads, wrapping tentacles around Kate Moss. But UK-based artist Hattie Stewart doesn't add around these photos; instead, she turns cover girls into trippy, drippy, pop art spectacles using ink pens to turn pretty faces into zombie-like creatures, foaming-at-the-mouth monsters or ecstatic mask-like faces. Her standalone illustrations are sick, too. [vectroave]
