Whitewash brings the talents of Chicago's POSE and the brilliant photography of KC Oritiz to LA's Known Gallery. Both artist explore notions of memory and human expression. For pose, this is a period of time before walls were buffed in the Windy City. He's created 15 new works, several on Plexiglas, all mingling deep abstraction with pop culture reference. The 12 Ortiz photographs shown detail a trip to West Papua and Burma, where the artist found tension between resisting globalization and a fight not to be whitewashed of native traditions.
Whitewash will run from November 19 to December 10, 2011.
