Like many of our favorite outerwear styles, trench coats are of military origin. First introduced during WWI as an optional dress item for the British Army, they've remained a wardrobe staple ever since, with popularity centered around businessmen looking to top off a power suit on rainy days (and subway flashers/cinema self-pleasurers needing a uniform). As of late, however, we've been repeatedly seeing the double-breasted, below-the-knee joint on men in more casual getups. Which brings us to today's Trendhumper: Are trenches the new M65?
