It sounds like the secret LeBron James and Kevin Durant rap song from 2011 that everyone was talking about on Monday actually exists.
ESPN’s Chris Haynes released a report about how the two NBA superstars jumped into the studio six years ago in the middle of the 2011 NBA lockout. Haynes was unable to locate the track itself, but he spoke with sources who revealed that the song was out there somewhere. It didn’t seem like there was any chance it was going to leak, though, which left many NBA and rap fans to speculate about what it might sound like.
But they didn’t have to speculate for very long, as on Monday night, someone who works at Spider Studios in Cleveland released a short snippet of the song on Twitter and promised to release the whole thing if the tweet featuring the snippet gets a million retweets:
As of right now, the song only has about 7,000 retweets, which means we obviously still have a long way to go before we hear the full LeBron/KD track. But the track is already stirring up a little bit of controversy since it features KD rapping, "Every hater all the same/I’m feeling like the world is Skip Bayless and I’m LeBron James."
There’s not much to the snippet as each player only drops a couple bars before the song cuts off. But if you want to get a taste of what LeBron and KD recorded, you can listen to it for yourself in the clip above. We’ll be sure to let you know if the full song drops anytime soon.
