On Monday, while commenting on the confrontation between Boston's Kelly Olynyk and Washington's Kelly Oubre, Warriors forward Draymond Green raised some eyebrows when he called Olynyk a "dirty, dirty player." For obvious reasons (see: Steven Adams's balls) people found the statement ironic coming from the Golden State veteran.

Green made the comments while taping his Dray Day podcast.

He further went on to elaborate on that point by saying, "I don't respect guys like that. I know he's not the greatest basketball player of all time, so maybe he feel like he got to do that, but you don't have to do that. Just dirty. I don't respect that, man. He's dirty."

I feel like that "he's not the greatest basketball player of all time" thing is getting overlooked in all of this.

Anyway, on Tuesday, Celtics star Isaiah Thomas stood up for his teammate by wondering the exact same thing everyone else was wondering when they first heard Green's analysis.

"I don't know how he can call anybody dirty," said Thomas. "It is what it is. Everybody's got a comment or something to say. That's all it is."

From there, he implied that the take was a joke coming from Green. No wait, he actually just said it: "It's a joke that [Green] said that. The playoffs, everything somebody says is blown out of proportion. Everything somebody does is blown out of proportion as well. We can't worry about what others are saying or doing."

Also, when asked if Olynyk was "dirty," Thomas sarcastically quipped "Kelly's one of the dirtiest players I know."

He finally wrapped it up with a serious response "No, he's nowhere near dirty. A couple of occasions, wrong time, wrong place. Things happen in basketball, especially physical playoff basketball. He's definitely not dirty."

To all of that, Green had this much simpler response that happened to subtweet both Thomas and the Celtics, who are currently in a 2-2 second round tie with the Wizards despite being the Eastern Conference's No. 1 seed going into the postseason:

Could be a great bonus storyline if they were to meet up in the Finals! We mean, if it wasn't just destined to be Cavs-Warriors again.
