On Sunday night, John Cena finally did what some of us (me) thought he already did a while ago when he got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend of nearly five years, Nikki Bella. Cena's gesture came in the most romantic time and place possible, as he popped the question in the middle of the ring at WrestleMania 33.
Just moments earlier, Cena and Bella had defeated the Miz and his wife, Maryse, in a mixed tag-team event:
In what we highly doubt is a coincidence, the Miz and Maryse previously gloated about their own marriage, with the latter saying she has a ring which Nikki "would never have":
Like a lot of reactions to things John Cena does, the response was both positive and negative:
Furthermore, on Monday morning, Cena revealed on The Today Show that only one other person knew about it before he asked a question. "Just because the fact that it is a giant production, as Al [Roker] saw, there needed to be at least one other person who knew," he said.
Given the past storylines, it's up to you if you believe that or not.
