Poor Derrick Rose. The Knicks point guard’s body has failed him again. Rose will miss the remainder of the season with a torn meniscus, per Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

New York's Derrick Rose has suffered a torn meniscus in his knee and will miss remainder of the season, league sources tell @TheVertical.

Rose tore his ACL in the 2012 playoffs, then missed the full 2012-13 season. He has battled injuries—especially to his meniscus—ever since.

Rose’s body had actually been mostly reliable this season, his first in New York. He has played in 64 out of the team’s 76 games—84 percent—and has put up decent numbers: 18.0 points, 4.4 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.3 turnovers per game. It was his highest scoring output since 2011-12, his fourth season in Chicago.

Twitter responded with both a sense of “of course he’s out again” and sadness. You have to at least kind of feel bad for the guy.

Derrick Rose boutta break the record for most torn ligaments of all time

#DerrickRose needs to retire like forreal. It's over man.

The Knicks have been mathematically eliminated from postseason contention for the fourth straight year. It’s been a tumultuous year for the organization—with questionable personnel moves, the Rose sexual assault cause, Rose going MIA, the Carmelo-Phil Jackson beef, the Charles Oakley drama, and more—and this feels like an appropriate note for this season to end on.

Rose will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and given the state of the Knicks, it would not be surprising if they chose to move on from the battered 28-year-old point guard.
