William Riley Gaul, an 18-year-old  former wide receiver who got kicked off of Tennessee's Maryville College team after being accused of killing his ex-girlfriend this past November, has been released from jail after posting a usually unreachable $1 million bond.

The former football player was arrested just a day after allegedly shooting Emma Walker, his 16-year-old ex-girlfriend, from outside her bedroom as she was sleeping. According to an indictment transcribed by People, authorities believe that Gaul began stalking Walker—a former honor student and cheerleader with ambitions to become a neonatal nurse—in October after the two had broken up. According to her family, he couldn't accept that their relationship had ended. Days before Walker's death, Gaul had reportedly talked about committing suicide.

Police believe that Gaul killed Walker with a gun that his grandfather kept under the driver's seat in his car. Gaul's grandfather reported it stolen two days after the shooting.

Not surprisingly, Gaul has been indicted on a number of criminal charges, including first-degree murder, especially aggravated stalking, tampering with evidence, and employing a firearm during a dangerous felony.

As of this writing, Gaul's Twitter account still has several references to Walker, though that may be because he's been incarcerated since November. His Twitter bio says "Living everyday through Emma Walker. I love you beautiful and I know you're in a better place now." His mentions are littered with the two cents of self-appointed detectives. And here's his pinned tweet:

Since posting bail, Gaul must wear a GPS monitoring bracelet at all times. He is set to be arraigned on Monday, February 13. He has not yet entered a plea.
