University of Kansas police are investigating the reported rape of a 16-year-old girl at McCarthy Hall, the all-male on-campus dorm which houses 38 students, including half of the Jayhawks men's basketball team. The Lawrence Journal-World obtained a police report on Tuesday which accuses the suspect of rape, in addition to contributing to a child’s misconduct, furnishing alcohol to a minor, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

KU Police Chief Chris Keary would not comment on whether or not the suspect is a student at the college or lives at McCarthy Hall. The police report lists five current players on the men's basketball team—Frank Mason III, Mitch Lightfoot, Josh Jackson, Lagerald Vick, and Tucker Vang—as witnesses.

The Journal-Worldpoints out that crimes reported to the KU police are put up on the department’s online daily crime log "within a few days." This alleged rape was not posted on the website until "a few weeks" after the incident was reported. Keary believes that they withheld posting any information because it could potentially interfere with their ongoing investigation.

According to the police report, the incident occurred between 10 p.m. on December 17 and 5 a.m. on December 18. A second police report indicated that a runaway child was reported from the same address as the alleged rape on December 18 at around 4 a.m. KU police deputy chief James Anguiano said that the runaway was located and picked up. However, the police couldn't release any additional information because the person is a juvenile.
