Troy Aikman had no qualms about exposing his ire for Skip Bayless when Bayless, longtime co-host on ESPN's First Take, accepted a lucrative offer to join Aikman at the Fox Sports Network back in August. Aikman has held a grudge against Bayless after Bayless, a longtime Cowboys fan and former Dallas Morning News sports columnist, speculated about Aikman's sexual orientation in the 1996 book Hell Bent.

The beef between Aikman and Bayless has been going strong ever since, and the two haven't seen nor spoken to each other during that time. Bayless now wants a sit-down to let out the bad blood between them and hopefully make amends.

In an interview with the Dallas Morning News published Tuesday, Bayless spoke about his wish to squash the beef:

"For the record, I tried to get in touch with Troy after he seemed to have a public issue with it. I wrote him a note that said, ‘I’m dumbfounded by this that you have any issue with this book. I would have thought you would have loved this book.’ He was like the last American hero to me. And to this day I haven’t seen Troy, and I would be happy to sit down with him today and talk to him."

Better late than never, but it's hard not to wonder as to why it's taken so long for Bayless to attempt to smooth things over. You can check the rest of the Dallas Morning News interview here.
