LeBron James and Dwyane Wade are close friends, and when close friends who are also competitive find their favorite teams facing each other, they raise the stakes. That’s what happened when the players’ hometown MLB teams squared off in this year’s World Series.

James bet on the Cleveland Indians, and Wade on the Chicago Cubs.

Unfortunately for LeBron, who was in attendance and cheered raucously during Game 7 Wednesday, the Indians eventually fell in 10 innings, losing the game and the series to the Cubs.

It was Wade who initiated the bet, but James will be the one metaphorically paying up.

“We’re both fashionable guys,” Wade explained to the website Uninterrupted. “We both love to dress. We both love to feel good and look good. So, whoever’s team loses, the loser has to show up during the NBA season to the other guy’s home game dressed as the team who won.”

James, who wore a Cleveland Or Nowhere shirt to Game 7, will rep Chicago when Cavaliers and Bulls play Dec. 2. ESPN gave us an early glimpse at what that might look like.

A bet is a bet.

James told his hometown team to keep their heads up and also congratulated the Cubs after the wild Game 7.

Though he didn’t address the bet specifically in his post-game video, based on what we know about LeBron, he’ll follow through. Expect to see photos of his pre-game get-up Dec. 2.
