On Wednesday, Dallas Mavericks center Andrew Bogut will face the Warriors in what is surely going to be a bittersweet return to Golden State. After spending the last four years of his NBA career with the Warriors, Bogut was dealt to the Mavericks in a move which was meant to free up cap space to sign Kevin Durant. The trade led to criticisms surrounding Bogut's inability to stay healthy, especially after suffering a left knee injury during the NBA Finals last season.
In a new interview with Sam Amick of USA TODAY Sports, Bogut opened up about his departure from the Warriors. When the discussion switched over to rumors that Warriors were questioning his durability, the 31-year-old center didn't hold back on his feelings towards the NBA. "I don’t buy into the sources thing. I don’t buy into all that (expletive), because this league is so two-faced and everybody is so fake," Bogut said. "The same people who made those comments will see me tomorrow and shake my hand and ask me how my family is. This league is full of people who are full of (expletive) and shallow, and that’s what you figure out in pro sports. It’s very hard to meet a genuine person who you can call your friend in this league. That’s just the reality, and I understand that."
If it's any consolation for Bogut, the Warriors' current center, Zaza Pachulia, isn't cutting it right now, and they are greatly missing their former center's defensive presence in the paint. Bogut may be feeling a little bitter now, but he might end up getting the last laugh if Golden State's big man woes lead to their demise in the playoffs.
