Joe Thomas, Sr. is living proof of the phrase that it's never too late to pursue your dreams in life. The 55-year-old South Carolina State University running back is literally a man (or grandfather) among boys on the football field. As you'll see in the clip above, he made history on Saturday against Savannah State as the oldest Division 1 player to ever play in a college football game after gaining three rushing yards during the first quarter.

Thomas, Sr. befittingly earned his place in the FBS record books on the Bulldogs' Senior Day ceremonies, which is also his first college game he played.

He is the father of Green Bay Packers linebacker Joe Thomas, who enrolled at South Carolina State in 2012 at age 51 when his son was a member of the team before he entered the NFL in 2014. Thomas, Sr. joined the Bulldogs in hopes to be on the squad with his son, but started off as a scout team player. Thomas, Sr. was able to maintain his NCAA eligibility to play for the Bulldogs, and officially joined the team's roster this season.

This is a feel-good story for any middle-aged person hoping to go back to college and run with a football team on the gridiron.
