Following his team'sย 113-110 overtime win over the Phoenix Sunsย last night,ย Oklahoma City Thunderย center Steven Adams called the performance of his teammateย Russell Westbrookย "standard." Okay, maybe it wasย standard for a player like Westbrook, but it was alsoย historic. For the first time since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar inย 1975, the Thunder star point guard racked up a 50+ point triple-double with 51 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists.ย
Westbrook's game had some on Twitter wondering if he was human, and rightfully so.
Of course, when it comes to Westbrook, you've gotta take the good with the bad. In this case, the "bad" came in the form of 44 shots out of the team's 96 totalย attempts.ย "Tonight, I think I should've [trusted teammates] a lot more, honestly," Russย said, according to ESPN. "Throughout the game, I've got to find ways to not just trust them but get them the ball where they can score the basketball." But hey, no one's really complainingโespecially after a win, right? Plus, he can do what he wants, no?ย
So, what did Russ think of his monster stat line?ย "[I'm] hungry, I'll tell you that much," Westbrook said.
