It has been an incredibly tough season for the Chicago Bears. On Sunday, the Bears were dealt even more heartbreak when they fell to the Indianapolis Colts 29-23, dropping their record to 1-4. With Chicago facing a fourth-and-8 with less than a minute remaining on Indy's 28-yard line, quarterback Brian Hoyer dropped back and tried forcing the ball into triple coverage to find his receiver, Cameron Meredith.

While Meredith was having an impressive game, catching nine passes for 130 yards and one touchdown, Hoyer clearly missed the Bears' No. 1 receiver, Alshon Jeffrey, who beat one-on-one coverage. Sure, Colts cornerback Vontae Davis is the team's best player at the position, but Jeffrey was WIDE OPEN! Plus, when the game is on the line on a passing play, a team typically lives and dies by their No. 1 receiver, and oh, did we mention that person is Jeffrey?!

After the play, Jeffrey was visibly frustrated, and rightfully so.

During the postgame press conference, Bears head coach John Fox was asked about the final play, and Hoyer's decision to throw to Meredith instead of Jeffrey. Fox had an exchange with a reporter that was, um, very weird.

Funny thing is, it didn't take a "hot dog-laden press box" to see how wide open Jeffrey was. Just a competent quarterback.
