While Shaquille O'Neal understands Colin Kaepernick's right to choose, protesting the national anthem isn't something he would do. Ever. Shaq appeared on Fox and Friends on Wednesday and discussed Kaepernick's decision to sit (or take a knee) during the playing of the anthem. O'Neal uttered a similar sentiment to that of the San Francisco 49ers, President Barack Obama, and many more, saying, "to each his own." However, the 15-time NBA All-Star added, "It's something I wouldn't do."

He explained that his father was a military man and he has uncles who are in law enforcement, so sitting during the National Anthem is something he would "never" do.
In addition to having a father who served in the military and two uncles working in law enforcement, O'Neal has been a reserve officer for the Doral Police Department, the Golden Beach Police Department, the Miami Beach Police Department, the Port of Los Angeles Police Department, and the Tempe Police Department in Arizona. The basketball star has long been open about his goal to one day be a police chief or sheriff.
