Blake Griffin penned a letter "To Clippers Fans" for The Players' Tribune on Friday where he admitted that "last season sucked" and also apologized for that whole breaking his hand punching a team equipment manager in the face thing. His exact words were: "I am truly sorry. What happened in Toronto was 100% my fault. I messed up." He also added: "There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think about it. And I don’t mean that in some clichéd 'not a day goes by' way. I genuinely think about it every single day, and I just feel like I let down the fans who have been riding with us since the beginning."

As you may recall, Griffin punched equipement manager Matias Testi in the head outside a Toronto restaurant back in January, resulting in a busted right hand as well as a four-game suspension. It was the most notable event in a disappointingly crappy season that included Griffin being limited to 35 games and the Clippers getting bounced in six games against the Trail Blazers in the first round of the playoffs.

Later in his Players' Tribune piece, Griffin also reiterated his apology (which he actually did in person earlier this year) and ended his story by saying how his brother asked him, "Man, what are you doing?" following the infamous incident:

"To hear that from him, somebody I’ve looked up to my whole life, who always tells me what I need to hear, that’s when I had a pretty big realization about who I am, and who I want to be. I don’t want to say what that realization was. I just want to go out and show you."

Damn. Who knew punching somebody in the face could be such an emotional roller coaster?
