Just because Kobe Bryant would personally prefer to stick it out in L.A. instead of going to another team doesn't mean that he's mad at Kevin Durant for choosing to sign with the Golden State Warriors. "I was happy for him," Bryant said during his appearance on The Jim Rome Show. "This is something that he wants to do man, he’s happy with his decision.”
As for how he would respond to the formation of the Warriors' super team with Durant, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, Bryant appears as though he would've been intrigued by the challenge that comes with trying to beat their Big 4. "So, as a competitor, you have to look at that and say OK, how can I figure out, I have to figure out how to take apart that team," Kobe said. "So now the challenge becomes how to find cracks within their system, within their personnel, how can I take them down."
As for the people (and possible players) complaining about the addition of Durant to Golden State being "unfair," Kobe isn't trying to hear it. "As a competitor, I would have thought less about myself if I looked at that move and said, ‘That’s unfair,'" Bryant said. "If you’re a real competitor, you look at that and say, ‘OK, lace ’em up. Let’s go. I don’t care how many players you have over there; we’re still going to take you down.'”
When Kobe won his second of back-to-back titles in 2010, the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Boston Celtics' Big 3 of Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce in seven games. If there's anyone who knows about beating a super team and overcoming the odds when they're clearly stacked against them, it's the Black Mamba.
