As we approach the NFL season's Week 1 kickoff, video gamers and NFL fans will be blessed with the new Madden NFL 17 edition. Unless you've been far and away from social media this week, or just don't have many friends who are into sports talk, we are sure you know about the Colin Kaepernick-national anthem controversy.

Since current NFL players including Drew Brees and Myke Tavarres, retirees including Jerry Rice, Tiki Barber, Rodney Harrison, Kaepernick's former 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh, and Kaepernick's estranged mother have given their commentary about his not standing up during the national anthem, the game's developer EA Sports has decided to add in-game commentary about Kaepernick's decision.

To drive home EA Sports' mission to make the video game authentic as possible when it comes to the latest NFL news, an EA Sports senior publicist confirmed to GameSpot that commentary will be added in regarding the Niners quarterback's decisive sit-in. "Kaepernick’s decision will be briefly mentioned in-game, reflecting our commitment to authenticity in Madden NFL 17," the spokesperson said.

The enhanced commentary in the NFL video game will continue to be developed for gamers to get the full experience as if they are on the field or in the skyboxes with executives, as well as coaches and coordinators on the sidelines making play calls, according to the source: "Overall, our new commentary will mainly center around on-field performance, as well as major news like trades, free agency signings, and injuries."

If it's in the game, it's in the game.
