Chinese hurdler Shi Dongpeng had one very strange and utterly disgusting welcome to this year's Olympics in Rio.

The International Sports Press Association is reporting that Dongpeng and his cameraman were robbed shortly before checking into their hotel in Rio. On July 25 at around 10:30 p.m., a man who appeared to be drunk approached the Olympian, threw up on him, and immediately ran away. As Shi went to bathroom to clean up the mess, his cameraman chased after the guy and left behind their belongings. When the cameraman returned one minute later, all of their stuff was gone.

Upon viewing the hotel surveillance video, Dongpeng and his cameraman realized that the "drunk" guy had an accomplice working with him. The footage showed another man walk into the hotel and steal the equipment after the cameraman fled the scene.

When the two guys went to the police station to report the crime, it was 2 a.m. and packed. As if their introduction to Rio wasn't already jarring enough, here's an account one person shared with the cameraman while waiting at the station.

Per The International Sports Press Association

"A local man standing at the front of the line told the cameraman a story that was even worse: a man had just put a gun to his head in his garage, and took his car."

From concerns over the Zika virus to the Olympic Village looking like an absolute disaster to Rio declaring a "state of public calamity" two months ago, these Games look like they're going to be a mess. Is there anyone out there still holding out hope?
