Cristiano Ronaldo continues to silence the haters.

After quietening his critics with the winning penalty kick in last weekend's Champions League final – gifting Real Madrid their 11th European crown – the Portuguese forward has donated his win bonus from the competition to charity.

According to Defensa Central, Ronaldo has ordered his agent Jorge Mendes to send the €600,000 bonus – almost half a million pounds – to the United Nations, who will split it between a number of humanitarian projects.

It's claimed that Ronaldo had always intended to give the winners' bonus to a good cause.

Ronaldo was named the most charitable athlete in the world in 2015.

Last year, the Real Madrid superstar has been named as the most charitable athlete on the planet for his ambassadorial work with charities including Save The Children and UNICEF, plus his many random acts of kindness, which included donating more than $83,000 to a 10-year-old fan in need of brain surgery and giving more than $165,000 to fund a cancer center in Portugal that treated his mother.

Ronaldo came out on top of WWE legend John Cena, who has granted nearly 500 wishes for the Make-A-Wish foundation. Cena is the most requested celebrity by terminally ill children through the Make-A-Wish and he holds the record for meeting more Make-A-Wish children than anyone else.
