Back in 1993, Michael Jordan retired from the NBA to pursue a baseball career with the White Sox organization. But according to his former White Sox teammate Ozzie Guillen, MJ never stopped playing the sport that made him famous. And, as you’d imagine, he was still really, really good on the basketball court, even though he wasn’t playing on a regular basis at that point.

Guillen teamed up with ESPN for a new video series called “Story Time With Ozzie Guillen” that will feature him—you guessed it—telling stories. The first one centers around the time Guillen and his teammate Joey Cora made the mistake of playing MJ in a game of 2-on-1 during spring training with the White Sox in 1994. They put $100 on the game to make it interesting, and for Guillen and Cora, the game was a way to blow off some steam in between practice reps. But after MJ fell behind at the beginning of the game, he flipped a switch and went off and it became clear to Guillen that the game was about more than just money to MJ.

You can hear Guillen talk about the not-so-friendly contest in the clip above. You can also read his full account below:

This is a story about Joey Cora and Ozzie Guillen playing basketball against Michael Jordan. Mmm, mmm, mmm, not a good idea.

Words to live by. Great story, Ozzie. Keep 'em coming!
