Last summer, a short time after Seth Rollinsbroke John Cena’s nose and sent blood pouring out of it, we made the argument that the WWEshould include more blood in their product. Surprisingly, they didn’t listen to us. But maybe they’ll listen to Cena?

Rolling Stonejust ran a long feature on Cena that features him talking about everything from his foray into Hollywood to his relationship with his dad. And while speaking about today’s WWE, he admits that, as a 38-year-old man, he wishes it could be a lot less PG than it is. He understands why Vince McMahon has chosen to do away with profanity and blood before, during, and after matches, but he also admits that he misses the days when anything would go in the ring.

“I’d much rather it be a program geared toward me, whether that’s TV-14 or sometimes even more graphic than that, which is what I like,” he said. “For one thing, profanity brought fire out of people with personalities that backed the language. It’s very difficult to say, ‘Oh, you’re being poopy,’ especially when they’re meant to be fighting words. And now, if someone starts to bleed, the referee intervenes to stop the bleeding. But before, you’d just let it fly. Blood is one of the things that made fights cool. Like, you knew it had gotten serious. I understand why we don’t do it anymore. Vince has been a coach to me, a father figure, a boss, and a friend, and his goal and my goal are the same: to make the company be as big as it can be. But yeah, the blood is one thing I miss.”

In addition to talking about everything we mentioned above, Cena also addresses his future with the WWE ("I've already overstayed my welcome," he says), why he doesn’t want to have kids or get married (it apparently causes a lot of problems with girlfriend Nikki Bella), and more. Go here to read the Rolling Stone story. You can also check out the recent interview we did with Cena here.
